Founder of Ellis Hay Estate Agency in Scarborough, Samantha Hay, supports local students from Scarborough’s Sixth Form College in a bid to raise money for the charity, Yorkshire Coast Sight Support.
Samantha’s daughter, Tabitha Hay, and her college friends, Daniel Swain, Abigail Woollens and Milissa Fyfe-Barr have initiated a charity collection over the Christmas period to generate new stock for Yorkshire Coast Sight Support’s charity shop on Falsgrave.
Ellis Hay Estate Agency are to act as a donation point for Scarborough’s local charity, Yorkshire Coast Sight Support. Residents are encouraged to donate any unwanted clothes, shoes and bric-a-brac. These goods will all be donated to the charity in the New Year to boost their stock and help raise funds.
The Charity, Yorkshire Coast Sight Support work closely with the visually impaired to help improve their welfare, quality of life and level of independence. The charity also provides a high level of support to people dealing with the effects of sight loss or sight impairment – the support workers put a great deal of time and money into teaching materials and specialist equipment.
Tabitha Hay, and her friends, visited the charity’s guide dog monthly meeting earlier this year to show their support and offer up their help.
Tabitha Hay, daughter of Samantha Hay, stated “we got to meet some of the working dogs that assist people with their sight impairments, and learn about some of the technologies used to help sight impaired individuals.”
“It’s surreal the equipment they order to assist people. We saw large text calendars and diaries, all used to make peoples lives easier and help them be more independent.”
Abigail added, “the work this charity does it so important, giving sight impaired individuals independence in their life and helping them become members of society again is such a rewarding element.”
Samantha Hay added, “I think the collection is a fantastic idea -the charity deserves all the support they can get.”
